Got the Spirit

Got up early today to run an errand downtown. Stopped in at Bagel Sphere for breakfast. They are so awesome, more Halloween spirit than anyplace else in town. The whole place was decked out with paper jack-o-lanterns, and they were playing the soundtrack to Nightmare Before Christmas.

Gourd-bless-em, it was just what I needed.

  1. Isn't it great when an eatery gets into the spirit of Halloween. We have a little corner pub that really gets into the spirit at this time every year. It has become a huge part of our Halloween celebration to settle into a couple of giant leather chairs and sip pumpkin ale while looking at all the creative decorations they put up.

  2. I am proud to say I have noticed more people in my town at least attempt to celebrate than ever. It may be small like a plastic jack hanging from a hook or just a scarecrow, but they are trying. Unfortunately, not many business are following this trend. You are lucky to bump into a Halloweened establishment.

  3. I am glad to hear that. Here in the UK, Christmas is bigger than Halloween in many shops, even at this time of year. In John Lewis where I went today with my wife, a whole section of a floor was dedicated to Christmas, while Halloween had two small stands. Depressing. But at least I have decorations here and I have horrow movies to keep me busy.

  4. Yeah, it's pretty bleak here in the Pacific Northwest. Halloween is usually cold and wet, so people don't get out much, and it's hard to decorate.

The store's don't put forth much effort, I went to Grocery Outlet this week, and they were already taking down their Halloween display and putting up xmas.

But, I got more trick or treaters last year than any other year. I keep haunting the house, and rewarding the kids who trick or treat with fullsized candy bars.

Last year, one of the kids I scared saw me after the haunt, and thanked me for scaring him.

I have faith that those are the kids who will grow up and keep Halloween growing. Just gotta do my part.

  5. I need to do my part too. England is such a lovely setting for Halloween. A shame it is not celebrated more.

  6. This is going to sound a little Charlie Brown, but the only signs of Halloween (more Fall maybe) in my neck of the woods are the jugs of Apple Cider at my local shoppe. Good grief.

  9. I apparently do Not have an Ego... I would be much more interesting if I did.... And as for "Suffering"....the more you try to avoid suffering, the More you suffer ... because smaller more insignificant things begin to torture you in proportion to your fear of being hurt... Thank You for your response
